While seated stitching in the hospital the Balloons over Waikato festival was on so we managed to see some of the balloons taking of in the early mornings. Here are some pictures, but none were taken by me.
It was the 10th anniversary of the festival and the first balloon off was an enormous birthday cake. It had to have been the size of a 4 storey building and quite impressive.
As you can see by the size of the basket the turtle was also enormous.
Hi Laurie, I had been wondering how it was all going. Glad you are both home now.
How lovely that you saw the balloons!
Will you let me know ( email ) when you will be able to come out for a coffee and shopping with me at Cottage Flair. Our schedule here is a bit more flexible, now. Best Wishes to you both, Ali.
Stay a while and browse I chat about all nature of things mainly quilting and embroidery, but also life around us the fields, the flowers and family
Copying things from my blog
I am quite happy for people to use anything that I publish on my blog, if you wish to copy that is just great by me, I would treat that as a compliment, if it goes to a good cause then that is a double bonus.
Me. I am 70 yrs young, I finally went to university when I was in my 40's and received my diploma the same year as my daughter received hers. So there was life in the old gal.
I have been a follower and followed my then husband around the world, he working and me..I had a wonderful time and would not have changed a thing the experiences are 100 fold, I really must get around to writing a book. We have lived in France, USA, UK, Spain, Kuwait, Jordan, Philippines, China, Bahrain, Dubai and NZ to name but a few.
My nomadic life began in 1977 when my then husband was offered a job in Kuwait / Dubai Our wanderings continued and finally we ended up again in Dubai in 2006/9.. 30yrs later, so life has been in a full circle.
Stitching and Quilting kept me sane in all these years and are now my best friends. 2013 now sees me at home in New Zealand with my children and grand children and my last move from these shores. Vacations apart of course.
