What to do with small bits and pieces

So what do you do with those blocks that were not just right or a tester to see how it looked, or even the drawer full of small frames that will "come in useful one day"

While cleaning out a drawer in sewing room ( yes ! still at it)  I came across a couple of small 9 patch blocks. I thought there has to be some use for these and this is what has happened to them.....

Of course I really should have been doing something to the various UFO's that I have,

 instead of  playing with bits and pieces.
