HEALTH MESSAGE

As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of theworld,
I rapidly realized that I don't really give a damn.
It's the tortoise life for me!

1. If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat.
3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4. A tortoise doesn't run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years.
And you tell me to exercise?? I don't think so.

I'm retired. Go around me.

Finally finished well almost ....

The trials and tribulations of getting this together...
Firstly I was going to try and stitch it together but realised it would be difficult  .... yes,  it was ....
so that was that and back to the drawing board.

Next came the idea to use the staple gun .... tried but  No!  did not work staples not long enough and it pulled the fabric  ...Umphhhh!!!

Finally out came the glues ....  yes, plural ..... which one to use ....now glue and embroidery is a NO NO !!
But I was at the end of things that could be utilised .... fabric glue,  tried on a small area did not work not strong enough ... next another craft glue  also did not work.
So the only thing left was contact glue ... So that was it ....firstly put the bronze fabric covered board on to the covered art board ... and a few hours later the board with the embroidery on was glued on the wrong side, a bit of a smear on the under board and finally  after 30 mins I placed them together .... with a weight of books  and a couple of hours later .... Viola!!! there was everything happily  stuck together,

So the next dilemma is .... I think there is a need for a cord around the edge of the embroidery  to make the edge attached to the  bronze board clean and neat,

So need to take a trip to Spotlight and just try some cords ... but of course will actually make my own if needed.

A little one to share ...

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past,
there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

One step closer ....

I am one step closer to finishing my Corded White Work  piece........ all the boards are covered

Now !!! how the heck do I join them together ....??????
When I decided on this method of mounting I did not give this any thought silly me !!!!!

So  whats it to be .....  stitched  ... pins ...nails...staple gun ... glue or even araldite,  ties  .... oh what a dilemma !.....

First one of the winter

Brrrrr!!! the first frost of the year ... a touch early this year  normally a month or so before this happens. This was 7.30am and the sun is already warming up.

But the good thing about this picture is that we know that the day will be beautiful so  two hours later we have this ....

not a cloud in the sky temps  will be 15 or 16 degrees  .

Not bad for winter eh !!.

Oh No! .... it has happened

No not the computer .... it was the printer

I went to print some papers Saturday morning  and it would just not print ... so checked the ink and yes one cartridge was low but not empty ... did all the maintenance it tells you to do and  NO JOY!!! so called a friend and he said " sorry sounds like it has died "

So  I took a trip to town and checked out who had what on sale .... I was so proud of myself as I knew exactly what I wanted ... not tall as there is a shelf above where it lives , front paper feed for same reason  , individual ink cartridges, WiFi if possible .... scanning yes ....  but fax was not necessary
Looked at all the electrical / computer shops as they are all on the same  Shopping Mall

Studied the price of printers in each shop and also of the ink.
One was cheaper than the others ... one gave Fly Buy points ... the ink was cheaper here but more expensive there ... in fact I thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so it took .....

Finally decided on this one Hewlett Packard, with WiFi and all the other things .....  not the cheapest but the best for what I needed ...  ticking all the boxes. Got it in the shop that was more expensive than the others  so bargained and they reduced it to the price of the cheapest shop .....

So bought it home and plugged it in to electricity and my computer ... wonders of modern science etc. my computer recognizes it .....  installed itself on to my computer and the WiFi....  asked me to put in a page of printing  and it scanned it and copied it ...  all this using the WiFi  ... Wheeee!!!

so here it is  my new printer....

Mothers Day down under

To all my blogger friends in the southern hemisphere and those in USA of course.

My thoughts....

Mothers Day in May really does not work to well for me ... I was bought up with Mothers Day being in March in the Spring when the Daffodils  and Tulips were in bloom, my vision still remains  about small bunches of those flowers being given to you at Sunday School or Church  to take home for your Mum or Grandma ...they would be wilting in your hot little hands and as you gave them to your Mum there would be great smiles of joy when you handed them over .....

By the way Mothers Day was not a commercial day as Hallmark have since made it .... it was Mothering Sunday which was connected to the church calendar ... wonder who moved it to May ??  bet it was Hallmark again to sell more cards.... and now the retailers are having a field day advertising gifts in the hundreds and thousands of dollars on TV ....

Okay I am living in a dream world ... But it is Mothers Day and I am a MUM so  I am allowed.

Hints and tips

Hints and tips always fascinate me here are a few that I found while scrolling the net......

I GOTTA TRY THIS: If you place a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water, it won't boil over.

Everyday Household Items

  • Can't get the onion or garlic smell off your hands, wash them with toothpaste.
  • Fake Jewelry turning your skin green? Paint them with a coat of clear nail polish.
  • Use a blow dryer to remove wax spill. Turn it on high until it melts then wipe it away with a damp cloth.
  • Stick a dryer sheet in your shoes at night to help eliminate odour
  • Hang a dryer sheet outdoors to repel mosquitoes.
  • Use clear nail polish instead of licking envelopes
  • Baby oil can be used to polish your chrome faucets
  • Use hot vinegar to clean old paint brushes
  • Add a 1/2 cup of lemon juice to the wash cycle to brighter up those fading whites.

For The Kitchen

  • Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.
  • Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter or golden syrup, and watch how easily it comes right out.
  • Stash a few marshmallows in a box of brown sugar or the sugar bowl to prevent the sugar from hardening or clumping.
  • A favorite pot lid without a knob can be save by pushing a screw up through the hole and twisting a cork onto it. (that's pretty cool)
  • Use white vinegar to clean out your coffee maker or kettle . One part vinegar, two parts water, brew or boil and it's clean!

I often wonder how people work out this stuff or do they try it as a last resort ... especially the marshmallows in the sugar !!!

Just another little giggle ...

I just had to share this with you all      ........

A Little Pray

Dear Lord,

Every single evening
As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:

God bless all my family
Where ever they may be,
Keep them warm
And safe from harm
For they're so close to me.

And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don't mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.

Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you,Lord.

You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my blogging  friends.

I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.

By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.

Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That's filled with so much love.

Where ever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail inbox
And each person who hits 'send'.

When you update your Heavenly list
On your own Great CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer
Sent up to GOD.Com

Chilly Morning ....

This morning was really chilly and may be the heat will have be on now ...  although the day times  are still around 18 degrees the nights are getting cooler ... we have been lucky this year with the lovely autumn we have had,  the maple trees are beautiful in so many shades of red to palest yellow they really are my favourite trees and this is also my favourite time for walks.
